The second step in the selection process is the Initial Interview, which allows Luxair to get to know the candidates better. During this interview, candidates are first asked to introduce themselves, providing a brief overview of their background and interests.

This is followed by a Q&A session where the interviewers pose questions about the candidate’s personality, passion for aviation, and knowledge of Luxair. This phase helps Luxair assess whether the candidate is a good fit for the program and the company culture.

These assessments help Luxair ensure that candidates have the cognitive and motor skills necessary to succeed in the demanding training program ahead.

4. Final assessment

This final stage involves an interview where recruiters aim to confirm that the candidate possesses all the qualities required to become a pilot at Luxair. Additionally, there is a group exercise designed to test the candidate’s ability to work effectively as part of a team. This comprehensive assessment ensures that only the most capable and well-rounded individuals are selected to join Luxair’s Cadet Pilot Program.

 3. Training outline

Ab-initio training (BAA Training)

The initial phase of the Luxair Cadet Pilot Program, known as ab-initio training, takes place at BAA Training. Over the course of 18 months, cadets undergo intense training designed to equip them with all the necessary qualifications to fly as commercial pilots. This rigorous program ensures that cadets acquire the fundamental skills and knowledge needed for their future roles in aviation.

Type rating phase

The type rating phase of the Luxair Cadet Pilot Program is tailored to meet the airline’s current needs. The specific aircraft on which cadets will be trained depends on Luxair’s requirements at the time they enter this phase. The cost of the type rating will be covered by the airline. Upon successful completion of this phase, cadets will begin their careers as first officers.
